Katie Summers Reid
As a seasoned bookkeeper and CTEC Certified Tax Preparer, Katie brings a wealth of knowledge to the Keeping Your Balance team.
Katie was raised in the Bay Area by a large family of tax preparers and accountants. As you can imagine, she had a fairly orderly childhood. She was required to account for her allowance down to the penny. In her early adulthood, she rebelled by deciding that she would not work with numbers. However, despite Katie’s best efforts, all her non-accounting jobs ended up with her correcting the books and managing the finances. Her knack for numbers could no longer be denied. Finally, she embraced a profession in bookkeeping as her true calling.
Chris graduated from Sacramento State University with a business degree in Strategic Management. Immediately upon graduation, he moved to the Central Coast of California and began work in the restaurant industry. Chris worked as a District Manager for Round Table Pizza in Santa Barbara County for six years and was twice recognized for his hard work and dedication with Round Table Pizza’s Manager of the Year Award. After spending more time in a kitchen than anyone ever should, Chris returned to the Bay Area to live the exciting life of a Bookkeeper. He joined our firm in 2010 and it was a perfect fit. Chris loves promoting the teamwork environment that distinguishes the KYB offices. He is now a veteran Account Manger and a CTEC Registered Tax Preparer.
Bryna is a seasoned tax professional registered with the California Tax Education Council (CTEC). While earning her BS in Accounting from San Francisco State University, she worked in restaurant service and management in restaurants throughout the city. She loved this line of work because of her passion for food, wine and working with people. Prior to coming to KYB, she spent six years working in another local tax and bookkeeping office where she prepared a high volume of individual and small business tax returns while managing operations. She also taught a CTEC approved course in income tax preparation, sharing her wealth of tax knowledge with many budding tax professionals.
Bryna looks forward to assisting and developing lasting relationships with the diverse array of individuals and local small businesses that makes up KYB's clientele.
David graduated from Vassar College with a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, and Society and also studied accounting and payroll at Diablo Valley College. He is registered as a CTEC Tax Preparer and has a fondness for working with numbers and people. He loves family, friends, music, and food and is NOT related to Steve Wozniak (unfortunately).
When it comes to professions, Katie's had quite a colorful and exciting past and is best known as a "Jill of All Trades". After working as a hair stylist for several years, to dabbling in real estate, and then immersing herself in the film industry, she decided to settle down and take on the world of accounting. Katie is a natural when it comes to providing customer service and genuinely enjoys working with people. As Office Manager and the first point of contact here at Keeping Your Balance, Katie makes each client feel welcome and will go to great lengths to make sure that their needs are met. Just don't ask her to cut your hair.
Gina received a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from UC Santa Cruz, which equipped her for the analysis and data collection of bookkeeping. She was a bookkeeper in the food industry before joining KYB, and she's excited to expand her scope and work with new sectors. She was born and raised in the Bay Area, her favorite place in the world, so she is very familiar with the intricacies and needs of local small businesses. When she's not solving bookkeeping puzzles at work, she likes travelling, making art, and live music.
While many may see bookkeeping and taxes as necessary evils of the business world, Steve sees them as the language and backbone of business. Being born and raised in the Silicon Valley, business has always been in the forefront of his passions. He started working at a young age, in jobs ranging from a customer service representative at a bowling alley to being an office manager at an electronics assembly and manufacturing firm. He graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Accounting from San Jose State University and continued to expand his experiences by joining the KYB team. He brings youthful enthusiasm coupled with veteran experience to make him an asset to KYB, and also to any clients that he works with.
